When does Black Myth: Wukong release?
Black Myth: Wukong will be released on August 20, 2024, on PS5 and PC. It will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. We still don’t have a confirmed date for Xbox Series X|S players. It’s only a matter of time before the game arrives on Microsoft’s consoles as the developers have confirmed an Xbox port. There’s been no mention of a Switch release so far.
All Black Myth: Wukong trailers
Several trailers have got fans excited for the game and we’ll highlight a few of them here. The first trailer was a gameplay reveal, uncommon in the gaming space as CGI-heavy reveals are the norm. Another six-minute cutscene showed off the studio’s attention to detail with a focus on visuals. The release date trailer gave us a look at the kind of bosses and areas you can expect from the title.
Black Myth: Wukong gameplay explained
The game is heavily based on Journey To The West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. The story follows monkey king Wukong and his friends as they face powerful opponents in their long search for enlightenment. While it’s unlikely that the game will directly follow every story beat, expect it to borrow liberally from the source material. For starters, the Ruyi Jingu Bang extending staff is shown off in one of the trailers.
Based on what we’ve seen, it’s safe to assume we’ll see an action RPG with a strong focus on combat skills and tactics. Every enemy will likely be punishing and there will no doubt be a significant roster of powerful foes and worthy rivals to beat. The main protagonist, referred to in-game as “The Destined One,” Sun Wukong, will be able to shapeshift. The player will be able to transform into a giant monster as well as a flying insect. The game also promises different spells, magic vessels, equipment, and weapons to tailor your combat style to your liking.
